New Patient Exam
Each new patient exam includes a full mouth exam, x-rays, periodontal charting, and an oral cancer screening.
Cleanings/Prophylactic Treatment
We offer regular dental cleanings as well as deep cleanings, called scaling and root planing, based on the recommendation of the dentist. The American Dental Association recommends that every patient receive a prophylactic treatment(cleaning) at least every six months. However, there are circumstances in which cleanings may be recommended every three to four months.
Child Exam & Cleanings
We welcome visits from all children ages 2 and above! Our service includes a full mouth exam, x-rays (when permitted by child), and cleaning. Your child will love our Kids Kove with Xbox, movies, toys and books! We also offer cartoons above the dental chair, nitrous oxide (when approved by parent/guardian), and we can often avoid using shots! We promise to make your child’s visit as comfortable as possible and will send them home with their very own goodie bag! All children who see us with a cavity-free mouth get to put their picture on our Cavity Free Club! Gum Infection Therapy (Scaling and Root Planing)
Gum Infection Therapy (Scaling and Root Planing)
If it is determined upon examination that there is presence of periodontal disease (gum disease), a deeper cleaning will be necessary to ensure optimum oral health. Gum infection therapy, also known as scaling and root planing is one of the most effective ways to treat gum disease before it becomes severe. Gum infection therapy cleans between the gums and the teeth down to the roots. A local anesthetic may be needed to numb your gums and the roots of your teeth but, in most circumstances, gum infection therapy causes little or no discomfort.
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral Cancer Screening
During your dental visit, Dr. Wettstein will talk to you about your health history and examine areas for signs of mouth and/or throat cancer. The screening will consist of a visual inspection of the mouth and palpation of the jaw and neck. In between visits, it’s important to be aware of signs and symptoms and to call our office if they do not disappear after two weeks. For more detailed information, please click here to learn more about Oral Cancer Screenings. Oral Cancer Screenings are always completed at no additional fee.
Sealants
Dental sealants are a clear and protective coating that is applied to the biting surfaces of the back teeth. The sealant protects the tooth from getting a cavity by shielding against bacteria and plaque. Sealants are most commonly placed on children’s permanent teeth because they are more prone to cavities.
